Coach transfer to Cluj-Napoca airport
Cluj is Romania’s second busiest airport and the closest Romanian option to western Ukraine. For groups from Bukovina and Zakarpattia the drive is shorter than to any Polish airport.
The airport and the road
Avram Iancu International lies about 9 km east of the centre of Cluj-Napoca. It is a low-cost base, so the European network is dense, though there is less long-haul than at Bucharest.
From Chernivtsi the drive takes roughly 5 to 7 hours including the border, and about the same from Zakarpattia. It is our shortest cross-border route after Chișinău.
Worth knowing in advance
- Romania is in the EU and, since 1 January 2025, fully in Schengen including land borders. The Ukrainian border here is an external Schengen border.
- Passports must remain valid for at least three months beyond the planned return date.
- Minors need a separate set of documents, agreed in advance.
- Starlink runs throughout, so check-in can be done on board.
